Respect, Excellence and Friendship

Pierre de Coubertin, modern founder of the Olympic Games, said “Holding an Olympic Games means evoking history”. Well The Forest Team have certainly created history! The runners will be legends in our school history books for years to come and pupils from Reception to Y13 have certainly had the most memorable journey at Forest leading up to these London Games.

Your courage and commitment to this amazing achievement is truly inspirational and having witnessed every single minute I am personally in awe of you all. We started this historic trip along time ago and finished as World Record Holders encompassing all the Olympic values of Respect, Excellence and Friendship.

Thank you! Sandy, Co Chair FSOC

Well done to the team.

Doesn’t it feel great to be a Guinness World Record Holder? (We obviously await Guinness’s verification.)

To think, it all started from an idea of Wayne’s to set or break a world record. You were all superb. You persevered through the psychological highs and lows and through physical pain. We worked our way through all the difficulties as a team. What a great example to all children and especially those at Forest School who were here to witness it. As with all things in life, success is not all down to the few people you see in the front line. Key those these people are, a lot must happen in the background to ensure they are best able to achieve their goals.

We had a fantastic group of people in the background ensuring we were in the best possible position to succeed. We would all like to say a huge thank you to:

  • Sandy Nicholls
  • Kate Clark
  • Andy Foinette
  • Deana Bryant
  • All of Maintenance
  • Richard Sedley & Simon Chapman
  • Emily Davies (Masseuse)
  • Mario Malvis (Masseur)
  • Michel Glendinning (Thrive Fitness)
  • Rena Creatini (Thrive Fitness)
  • All 17 of our expert and independent witnesses
  • All of Forest School for their incredible support
